Single-photon nonreciprocal excitation transfer with non-Markovian retarded effects

چکیده
We study at the single-photon level nonreciprocal excitation transfer between emitters coupled with a common waveguide. Non-Markovian retarded effects are taken into account due to large separation distance different emitter-waveguide coupling ports. It is shown that of small-atom dimer can be obviously by introducing them coherent channel nontrivial phase. prove for models nonreciprocity cannot coexist decoherence-free giant-atom structure although latter markedly lengthens lifetime emitters. In view this, we further propose trimer which supports both (directional circulation) and greatly lengthened lifetime. Such model also exhibits incommensurate entanglement initial states in case however reciprocal. believe proposals this paper potential applications large-scale quantum networks information processing.

Single photon quantum filtering using non-Markovian embeddings.
We determine quantum master and filter equations for continuous measurement of systems coupled to input fields in certain non-classical continuous-mode states, specifically single photon states. The quantum filters are shown to be derivable from an embedding into a larger non-Markovian system, and are given by a system of coupled stochastic differential equations.
متن کاملNon-markovian continuous quantum measurement of retarded observables.
We reconsider the non-Markovian time-continuous measurement of a Heisenberg observable x[over ] and show for the first time that it can be realized by an infinite set of entangled von Neumann detectors. The concept of continuous readout is introduced and used to rederive the non-Markovian stochastic Schrödinger equation. We can prove that, contrary to recent doubts, the resulting non-Markovian ...
متن کاملSingle-photon excitation of surface plasmon polaritons.
We provide the quantum-mechanical description of the excitation of surface plasmon polaritons on metal surfaces by single photons. An attenuated-reflection setup is described for the quantum excitation process in which we find remarkably efficient photon-to-surface plasmon wave-packet transfer. Using a fully quantized treatment of the fields, we introduce the Hamiltonian for their interaction a...
متن کاملAutofluorescence of epithelial tissue: single-photon versus two-photon excitation.
We instrumented a combined fluorescence spectroscopy and imaging system to characterize the single- and two-photon excited autofluorescence in epithelial tissue. Single-photon fluorescence (SPF) are compared with two-photon fluorescence (TPF) measured at the same location in epithelial tissue. It was found that the SPF and TPF signals excited at corresponding wavelengths are similar in nonkerat...
متن کاملSingle photon generation by pulsed excitation of a single dipole
The fluorescence of a single dipole excited by an intense light pulse can lead to the generation of another light pulse containing a single photon. The influence of the duration and energy of the excitation pulse on the number of photons in the fluorescence pulse is studied. The case of a two-level dipole with strongly damped coherences is considered. The presence of a metastable state leading ...
